Cosmetic Dentistry Manchester

What we can do for you?

Gappy smiles, discoloured teeth, odd shaped teeth, worn chipped teeth, old fillings can all be fixed with cosmetic dentistry and its often not as complex or expensive as you think.  A beautiful smile can really boost your confidence and roll back the years.

Advances in techniques now mean there are many ways to improve your smile. These treatments are referred to as cosmetic dentistry.

Dentistry is no longer just a case of filling and extracting teeth, as it was for many years. Nowadays, many people turn to cosmetic dentistry, or ‘aesthetic dentistry’, as a way of improving their appearance. The treatments can be used to straighten, lighten, reshape and repair teeth. Cosmetic treatments include tooth whitening, composite bonding, veneers, crowns, bridges and tooth-coloured fillings.

Quite often simple non invasive treatments such as tooth whitening and composite bonding are sufficient to improve the appearance of the teeth and boost your confidence. Cosmetic dentistry doesn't necessarily have to be complex and expensive and people are often surprised at how quick and easy it is to get a beautiful smile.

Cosmetic consultation

This appointment takes approximately 45 minutes. We offer a thorough dental examination, radiographs, study models and photographs as appropriate. You will have plenty of opportunity to discuss your dental health and what you would like to improve. From this a written treatment plan and estimate will be provided covering all the treatment options suitable for you . A further appointment is then arranged to discuss the proposed treatment and answer any questions you may have.  There is of course no obligation to proceed with any treatment. The cost of a full examination and treatment plan is £60.00. So if there is anything about your smile you have always dreamed of changing please do not hesitate to contact us.

All our consultations are with the qualified dentist who would be carrying out the treatment. The dentist is the only qualified person on the team able to answer all your questions and give you all the treatment options that are suitable for you so you can make educated and informed decisions.

We are committed to offering sound ethical advice and we fully support minimally invasive techniques to improve your smile where possible. Our aim is to always maintain the health of your teeth whilst improving their appearance.

Is cosmetic dentistry complicated?

Not always! People are often surprised to find that simple small procedures such as tooth whitening or composite bonding can make a world of difference. Such procedures are minimally invasive, do not damage the health of the teeth and don't cost the earth.

So don't be afraid to let us know what you would like to change about your smile because the result you want may be easier and cheaper than you think.

What can be changed with cosmetic treatment?

We always aim to provide realistic expectations of what can be achieved but listed below are some of the types of treatment patients have:-

Irregular teeth Many patients are concerned with altering the shape or position of their teeth. This can be achieved with simple treatments such as composite bonding or more complex treatments such as veneers or crowns or orthodontics. We can carry out treatment using composite bonding, veneers and crowns at the practice and can refer you to an experienced orthodontist if this is the best option.

Posterior aesthetics Silver amalgam fillings can in many cases be replaced with white fillings or inlays. These tooth coloured restorations produce a more natural appearance. The precise material that is best for your tooth can be discussed with your dentist. It may be a white composite placed directly by the dentist or porcelain which is made in the lab and then cemented into place.

Spaces can be filled with bridges or implants and narrow “sunken –in “ arches can be filled out  giving you the confidence to smile again .

Tooth colour The shade of discloured teeth can be improved with tooth whitening techniques. Tooth whitening will not alter the shade of existing crowns, veneers or fillings. However these restorations can be changed after bleaching to match your new whiter teeth.

Replace crowns Many crowns have a metal framework which can produce a dark lifeless appearance. It can also cause a dark "halo" at the neck of the tooth. All ceramic crowns overcome this problem and produce a more natural appearance.

Cosmetic contouring We can make minor alterations to teeth such as smoothing chipped rough edges. Such alterations are sometimes all that is needed to improve the appearance of your teeth.

Cosmetic bonding Spaces between teeth can be closed simply by bonding on tooth filling materials.
